Prasiolite Charm Necklace

Charm necklace featuring a tiny Pewter key and a spiral-cut briolette of Prasiolite. These have been slung on a delicate 14K Gold-fill chain which is is finished off with a 14K Gold-fill lobster clasp flanked by tiny faceted rondelles of Peridot.

This short necklace is designed to rest at the base of the throat but can be extended slightly at no extra cost.

Gift Wrapping

I'm incredibly fond of packaging, and while I believe in wrapping presents oneself before giving them away I also think it is lovely when someone offers to help me in the rush before Christmas (I was and still am the Christmas-wrapping elf my father always turns to, so a little break is appreciated).

Iolite & Gold Necklace

Ultra-fine 14K Gold-fill necklace adorned with a spiral-cut briolette of Iolite and finished off with a 14K Gold-fill lobster clasp flanked by 3 small faceted rondelles of Iolite either side. This short necklace is designed to let the pendant stone rest at the base of the throat.

Onyx Princess

The days are getting shorter and shorter, and even taking photos in the mid-day sun creates a chiaroscuro effect like this... to be honest, it's a bit difficult to get things done!

Here is a princess* necklace featuring smooth round beads of Onyx interspersed with tiny faceted rondelles of Hematite and finished off with a Sterling Silver shepherd's hook clasp.

*A princess-length necklace is short and rests on the collarbones. The term stems from the old anglosaxon tradition of giving girls a pearl for every birthday until she turns 21, at which point the pearls are strung into a necklace that rests neatly around the throat - a 'princess' necklace. In contrast, a matinée-length necklace rests on the breastbone, while an opera-length necklace swishes down below the bust.

Silver Hoops with Garnets

Petite hammered Sterling Silver hoops adorned with small faceted ovals of cranberry-red Garnet. These are suspended from Sterling Silver hooks.

Chrysoprase Necklace

This is a present I've just made for a friend - a faceted briolette of bright green Chrysoprase slung on a very fine 14K Gold-fill chain and finished off with a small 14K Gold-fill lobster clasp flanked by tiny faceted rondelles of green Apatite.

It is a short necklace designed to appear as a mere glimmer of gold around the neck and with a small pop of green at the base of the throat..

Silver Hoops with Amethysts

I've been a bit distracted by feather forms lately, but hammered hoops are still one of my favourite styles and yesterday I made a couple of pairs with different gemstones (after which I chased the sun from window to window in our house and finally into the garden in order to capture them on camera - we are getting closer and closer to the shortest day of the year, no doubt about it!).

This first pair feature faceted pear briolettes* of Brazilian Amethyst in a lovely dark shade of purple. These are suspended from petite hammered hoops in Sterling Silver with Sterling Silver earwires and come with tiny silicone 'nuts' to keep them securely in your earlobe.

Peacock Feather Earrings

I couldn't resist these beautiful peacock feathers when I visited a supplier recently, I find the colours absolutely mesmerising - but very difficult to capture with my camera because of the shimmering effect which makes them so appealing to the eye..

In this pair I have teamed them with both faceted rondelles and faceted kite briolettes of Apatite in shades of aqua blues and green. These are suspended from Sterling Silver hooks

Those big roll-neck sweaters and scarves we wear in cold weather can easily push earring-hooks out of the earlobes, so I am supplying little silicone 'nuts' with each pair of earrings to keep them safely in place when you wear them.

Hoops & Skulls

Occasionally I make something purely for fun, like these petite earrings with tiny Gold-plate skulls floating on small 14K Gold-fill hoops.

Wake up and Smell the Coffee

I am ridiculously fond of coffee and I have been known to drink FAR too much of it... however, I am at present in 'quality only' mode, and therefore drinking much less of it.

One thing I definitely want to do when I'm in Paris in a couple of weeks is try to visit this great looking place: Coutume Café in rue de Babylone, 7e. I love the idea of a Franco-Australian coffee bar :)

*this is a completely new material for me,  I love the gunmetal colour and I plan to use it in some of the new designs that I am preparing.

**Oxidised Sterling Silver is treated in a chemical bath to blacken it to a gunmetal shade of grey. It is then thorougly cleaned for use.

* Rhodium is a silvery-white metal from the platinum group which doesn't tarnish. For this reason it is nearly always used to coat white gold jewellery, as this colour of gold has a high silver content and would otherwise tarnish easily

Trunk Sale in Paris - 1st December

Lapis Lazuli & Kyanite Trickle Earrings

The light is really wintry these days, with a low sun which casts extra long shadows - not so good for taking detailed pictures of gemstones...
Here is a pair of earrings I managed to capture before the sun disappeared behind our neighbour's house yesterday: They are trickle earrings featuring faceted briolettes of glossy Lapis Lazuli with inclusions of Pyrite (fool's gold to some) and lovely, limpid Kyanite. These are set in coils of 14K Gold-Fill on fine 14K Gold-Fill chains and suspended from hand-wrought 14K Gold-Fill hooks.
