Lapis Lazuli & Kyanite Trickle Earrings

The light is really wintry these days, with a low sun which casts extra long shadows - not so good for taking detailed pictures of gemstones...
Here is a pair of earrings I managed to capture before the sun disappeared behind our neighbour's house yesterday: They are trickle earrings featuring faceted briolettes of glossy Lapis Lazuli with inclusions of Pyrite (fool's gold to some) and lovely, limpid Kyanite. These are set in coils of 14K Gold-Fill on fine 14K Gold-Fill chains and suspended from hand-wrought 14K Gold-Fill hooks.

Price: £34 - sold

Lapis Lazuli

I have a strong penchant for heavy gemstone necklaces that sit on the collarbone, close to the neck. I like a necklace to gently hug me...
this necklace features smooth round beads of indigo-blue Lapis Lazuli with inclusions of bronze-coloured Pyrite. Each Lapis bead is given a bit of space to breathe with a tiny 14K Gold-Fill bead and the clasp is a 14K Gold-Fill lobster.

Price: £96.

Love Lapis

I found this large teardrop of Lapis Lazuli years ago, and though I always thought it was lovely I never really knew how to transform it into a good piece of jewellery. Then it suddenly came to me that all this baby needed was a simple gold coil so that it could be slung on a double row of superfine gold chain.

This is quite a dark shade of Lapis - I have seen it referred to as 'denim blue' in the past - featuring typical inclusions of bronze-coloured Pyrite. I have added a few tiny faceted rondelles of Iolite to the chain, which fastens with a small lobster clasp.

Materials: 14k Gold Fill, Lapis Lazuli, Iolite

Price: £38.

Petite Hoop Earrings

I am rather fond of hammered hoop earrings, but I find the traditional 'créoles' don't necessarily suit a rounded jawline, so I like to use brushed & hammered circles as part of a pendant design instead. This weekend I started off the new year by making several pairs of mini hoop earrings in gold and silver adorned with garnet, lapis and citrine. I think they will be just perfect for pepping up work outfits in gloomy January.
